The second running of the Northland Broxy camp saw good numbers of riders again all keen to hit Murray Gravatts track for a couple of days with more time in the river guaranteed! This year Broxy spent some extra time coaching a trio of senior riders including the irrepressible Nigel Caughey followed by a demonstration on the extended Endurocross loop by Damon Neild.
Instead of a game of spotlighting the crew ran around the track in the dark while Murray got stuck in watering the track with his new tractor and tanker set up making for even better conditions the next day.
After the second day swimming Broxy led the bunch for an improvised trial loop around the rest of the farm, cruising through native bush tracks, dried up swamps and open paddocks. Where they went eeling last camp he made a short loop in the long grass with a jump over the track then caught the perfect timing to follow the tractors pushing cut grass into long strips, forming a weaving trail that could spiral its way to the center. Just don’t cut any corners!
Getting this many keen riders together doesn’t happen by accident which is part of what makes the camps so much fun, while staying overnight in the shed was a laugh for those listening to the sleep talking and seeing Broxy get pushed out of bed by little Mag Dog. From all of us including the kids the biggest thankyou goes to Muzz for your effort and hospitality, we all appreciate it greatly!
